On Monday( 20 August), Maharashtra celebrated a milestone as Manyachiwadi in Satara district was inaugurated as the state's first solar-powered village.
This achievement marked a significant leap towards renewable energy, with 102 rooftop solar installations now providing 100% of the village’s electricity needs.
With a population of 420, every household in Manyachiwadi will enjoy zero electricity bills.
Solar panels now power street lights, the public water supply system, and essential local services, including the school and gram panchayat office.
