RBI Grade B – Eligibility Criteria 2025

Candidates preparing for the RBI Grade B 2025 exam must adhere to updated eligibility criteria as specified in the latest notification. Below is a comprehensive summary of the nationality, age limits, educational qualifications, and attempts allowed according to the RBI Grade B 2025 guidelines.

Nationality Criteria for RBI Grade B 2025

  • The candidate must be a citizen of India,
  • or a subject of Nepal or Bhutan,
  • or a Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1 January 1962 with the intention of permanent settlement,
  • or a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, or East African countries (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, Vietnam) intending to permanently settle in India.

Age Limits for RBI Grade B 2025

  • Minimum age: 21 years
  • Maximum age: 30 years as of the date specified in the notification

Age Relaxation: Candidates belonging to reserved categories are eligible for relaxation in the upper age limit as per RBI rules:

OBC 3 years
Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) 10 years
PwBD + OBC 13 years
PwBD + SC/ST 15 years
M.Phil. holders Upper age limit extended to 32 years
Ph.D. holders Upper age limit extended to 34 years

Educational Qualifications for RBI Grade B 2025

The educational requirements differ based on the streams candidates apply for: General, DEPR, or DSIM.

Post Minimum Qualifications
RBI Grade B Officer (General) A minimum of 60% marks (50% for SC/ST/PwBD) in aggregate of all semesters/years of Bachelor's degree as well as in 10th and 12th Standard examinations. Post-Graduation with minimum 55% marks (pass marks for SC/ST/PwBD) is also acceptable.
RBI Grade B Officer (Department of Economic and Policy Research - DEPR) A Master’s Degree in Economics or Finance with a minimum of 55% marks from a recognized Indian or Foreign University.
RBI Grade B Officer (Department of Statistics and Information Management - DSIM) A Master’s Degree in Statistics or Mathematical Statistics or Mathematics with a minimum of 55% marks.

Number of Attempts

For candidates in the General category, the maximum number of attempts allowed for the RBI Grade B exam is 6. There is no restriction on the number of attempts for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PwBD categories, as long as they meet the upper age limits and other eligibility criteria.
