As a part of the National Education Policy(NEP) 2020, the Union Ministry has come up with a plan to create unique ID numbers for school students across India. The Government of India has launched the Academic Bank of Credits also known as ABC Bank in which Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR) is done and your account is generated. As per portal, it will be very helpful for students such as Student Mobility, Academic Flexibility and more. 

• The APAAR ID will be a lifelong identifier that will track students' educational journeys and achievements from pre-primary to higher education. It will be linked to the student's Aadhaar ID but will not replace it.
• The government will seek consent from parents before creating an APAAR ID for their child. Parents can also withdraw their consent at any time.
• State education departments have directed educational institutions to organize meetings between teachers and parents from October 16 to October 18 to discuss the importance and relevance of establishing an APAAR ID for students.
