Jharia most Polluted city in India: Greenpeace Report

The Coal-belching Town Jharia in Jharkhand has been ranked as the most polluted city in India according to a Greenpeace India report.
Jharkhand’s Dhanbad is the second-most polluted city in India. Jharia and Dhanbad are twin cities in the coal mining belt of Jharkhand.
As per the report, 6 of the top-10 polluted cities are in Uttar Pradesh comprising of Noida, Ghaziabad, Bareilly, Allahabad, Moradabad and Firozabad.
Delhi is the 10th-most polluted city in India, which was at the eighth spot last year.
Lunglei in Mizoram is the least polluted city in the country.
The report is based on analysis of PM10 data from 287 cities across the country.
National Clean Air Programme (NCAP) was launched by goverenment in 2019.
It is a five-year action plan with a target of reducing concentrations of PM-10 and PM-2.5 up to 30% by 2024 in 102 non-attainment cities, with 2017 as the base year.
