The union cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved the building of the first unit of the Bhartiya Antriksh Station by extending the scope of Gaganyaan program.
About Bhartiya Antriksh Station (BAS):
Statement 1 is correct: Under Revised Gaganyaan Programme, ISRO will undertake four missions under ongoing Gaganyaan Programme by 2026 and development of BAS-1 & four missions for demonstration & validation of various technologies for BAS by December, 2028.
Statement 2 is incorrect: The BAS will orbit the Earth in low earth orbit at a height of about 400 kilometers and astronauts will be able to stay there for 3–6 months.
The BAS is being constructed in phases by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).
