World Sports Journalists Day is observed globally on 2nd July every year to acknowledge the work of sports journalists & to encourage them to do better at their work.

• The International Sports Press Association established the holiday in 1994 to commemorate its 70th anniversary. It is also known as International Sports Journalists Day.
• Sports journalism emerged in the 1800s, but it was more concerned with reporting on the social background of sporting events than it was with covering elitist sports.
