The first edition of the Naval Commanders' Conference of 2023 commenced today with its first phase conference on the board of India’s first indigenous aircraft carrier, INS Vikrant, in the Arabian Sea off Goa. 

• The conference will be addressed by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and serve as a significant platform for naval commander’s discussion relating to military strategic and security issues.
• It will also support interaction with senior government functionaries through an institutionalized forum.
• The major six months of operational, materiel, logistics, human resource development, training and administrative activities undertaken by the Indian Navy will be reviewed by the Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral R Hari Kumar along with other naval commanders, a deliberation for future planning of important activities and initiatives.
