Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated the Sanitation Workers’ Development Scheme to protect the welfare of conservancy workers in the State. CM also launched a mobile application to help identify and collect census data of sanitation workers as part of the scheme. the main purpose of the scheme is to improve the welfare of the conservancy workers who face many socio-economic challenges in their workplace every day.

Scheme initiatives

• Making various government welfare schemes accessible for sanitation workers
• Providing skill training required for the mechanization of cleanliness drives
• Ensuring that all sanitation workers are covered under pension and insurance schemes
• Ensuring that children of sanitation workers have access to education and other basic amenities
• Providing credit and other facilities required for the sanitation workers to pursue alternative businesses.
