Direction: Read the following information and answer the following questions.
Eight persons whose names begin with A, B, P, C, D, O, Q, and E are sitting around a circular table facing inward. Persons, whose names start with a vowel, do not sit adjacent to each other. A sits 3rd to the right of D. Two persons sit between P and A. B sits adjacent to O, who sits 4th to the right of E. Q sits 3rd to the left of O.
Four of the five are alike in a certain way and thus form a group. Find the one that does not belong to that group.
EQ
OP
BO
ED
CA
Let’s break it down, step by step:
- Vowels: A, O, E. The rule: No vowels can sit next to each other.
- A sits third to the right of D. Visualize D, count three: that’s A.
- Two spots between P and A. If A is here, count two seats, that’s P.
- B is next to O. O is fourth right of E. So E…one, two, three, four…that’s O.
- Q is third left of O. Circle around, count backwards from O, that’s Q.
Now, the options. What connects 4 out of 5 of them?
- EQ
- OP
- BO
- ED
- CA
Look closely: Out of the options, the first four (EQ, OP, BO, ED) are all pairs where at least one is a vowel and they’re not vowels sitting together (which fits the no-vowels-side-by-side rule given in the puzzle).
But CA? Both are consonants—no vowel involved in that pair.
So the odd one out, the one that doesn’t fit how the others are grouped, is Option 5: CA.
Correct Answer: Option 5 - CA
