Directions : Study the following information and answer the given questions.
Seven people, namely, J, K, L, M, N, O and P like seven different movies namely, Twilight, Gladiator, Wanted, Dread, Hero, Jumanji and Signs but not necessarily in the same order. Each person also works in the same office but in a different department (on the basis of experience) namely Administration, Production, Marketing, HR, Finance, R&D; and Client relations (CR), not necessarily in the same order. (Please Note: Each person has been allocated to a department as per increasing order of experience with the one in Administration being the least experienced whilst the one in Client Relations (CR) being the most experienced). Only two persons have less experience than K. P works in R&D.; The one who likes Wanted has more experience than K but less than one who likes Jumanji. P neither likes Wanted nor Jumanji. The one who likes Wanted does not work in Finance. J, who is more experienced than K, likes twilight. The person who works in Production is less experienced than the person who likes Hero. K does not like Hero. The person who works in HR is more experienced than both L and N. N is not the least experienced person. The one who likes Signs has more experience than N. M is more experienced than J. L does not like Dread.
Which of the following movies does M like?
Jumanji
Hero
Gladiator
Signs
Dread
Let’s break it down, step by step, with all the statements making sense:
- Order of experience: Administration < Production < Marketing < HR < Finance < R&D < CR (least to most).
- K: Only two people are less experienced than K. So, K is 3rd from the least.
- P: Works in R&D, doesn’t like Wanted or Jumanji.
- Wanted: This movie is liked by someone between K and the one who likes Jumanji, experience-wise. This person can’t be in Finance.
- J: More experienced than K, likes Twilight.
- Production: This person has less experience than whoever likes Hero.
- K: Doesn’t like Hero.
- HR: More experienced than both L and N. So, L and N are below HR in experience.
- N: Not the least experienced. So, not Administration.
- Signs: Liked by someone more experienced than N.
- M: More experienced than J.
- L: Doesn’t like Dread.
Let’s piece the chain:
- K is in the 3rd slot (Marketing); J is above K, and M is above J.
- J likes Twilight.
- P is R&D (2nd most experienced).
- HR sits above L and N; so, L and N have to be before HR.
- Hero must sit higher than Production.
- M is higher than J, so M can only be in Finance, R&D, or CR.
- The one who likes Jumanji is the most experienced.
- P can’t be Jumanji or Wanted.
- M can’t be in R&D (P already there), so must be in Finance or CR.
- Wanted: Between K and Jumanji, but more than K, so options are HR and Finance.
- Hero: Higher than Production, which could be HR, Finance, R&D, or CR.
- K can never be Hero.
Now, cross-reference all that with the options:
1. Jumanji: Most experienced ? must be the person in CR.
2. Hero: Must be above Production; possible for M if M is in Finance or CR.
3. Gladiator, Signs, Dread: Not enough data directly.
Now, M is more experienced than J. J is above K. There’s only one position above R&D (Client Relations). So, M must be in Client Relations, which is the most experienced.
The person in CR likes Jumanji (since Wanted sits just below Jumanji). So, M likes Jumanji.
Your answer is right:
- Option 1: Jumanji is what M likes.
Here’s what else makes sense:
- P is in R&D (not Jumanji).
- The person in CR (the most experienced) is M, liking Jumanji.
- This fits all other clues and locks in the right answer.
Bold move, smart logic. You got it.
