Rearrange the following five sentences (A), (B), (C), (D) and (E) in a proper sequence so as to form a meaningful paragraph, and then answer the questions given below.
A. Being native or foreign is society's enduring parameter of judging belonging.
B. People judge others by their skin, gender, caste, religion and class.
C. Unfortunately, ecology is also now a realm of judgment, beyond mere objective labelling. Conservationists label trees as alien and exotic.
D. Some criticised the felling and sympathised with the forest. Others joined the tree-shaming or remained silent about the felling.
E. And the Nilgiri administration recently judged a forest as dispensable on that count.
Which of the following sentence is SECOND in the above given passage?
A
E
D
C
B
Correct option - 1 On looking at the given sentences, we observe that it is based on how people judge each other by their skin, gender, etc. Similarly, trees are also being judged by such characteristics and considered which tree is dispensable(which can be replaced) and which is indispensable. So, the 1st sentence should be B since it gives the general view of the passage. Since several parameters are shown in B, among which the most important parameter is the judgement of a person based on whether he is a native or foreigner. That is further stressed upon in A. Thus, A is the 2nd sentence, i.e. BA. Now, a similarity of judging trees on the same parameters is shown in C. Thus, C is the 3rd sentence, i.e. BAC. So, an example of judging of trees on such a parameter is shown in E. Thus, E is the 4th sentence, i.e. BACE. Hence, the last(fifth) sentence is D. Thus, the correct sequence is BACED. Option 1 i.e. A is the correct answer.
