Which one of the following phenomena CANNOT be exhibited by sound waves?
Reflection
Refraction
Interference
Polarization
Sound waves get reflected as same as light waves. If the sound wave is reflecting back from the surface of solid or liquid is called a reflection of sound waves. When sound wave changes medium at an angle other than 900 then it will bend from the original direction causing it to be refracted. The change in the angle of direction is called refraction, causing the part of waves to enter into new medium first and then change the speed. When the two travelling waves exist in the same medium will interfere with each other. If their amplitudes add, then it is called constructive interference. If they are out of phase or subtracting in nature, called destructive interference. Polarization is the property only with the transverse waves and does not exist with the longitudinal waves. A sound wave is a longitudinal wave, so it does not have this phenomenon.
