The year 2022 has been declared as the ASEAN-India Friendship year, as ASEAN and India commemorate 30 years of partnership. A series of events has been planned and organized, to celebrate the occasion throughout the year.

• As a part of this programme, the Indian media delegation is on a visit to Singapore and Cambodia under the ASEAN- INDIA Media exchange programme from 8th November to 13th November.
• On the first leg of the visit, the delegation went to Singapore and visited the Singapore India Chambers of Commerce and Industries (SICCI).
• The delegation had an exchange of thoughts on topics such as India-Singapore relations with a specific focus on business-friendly policies and the expectations of the business community in Singapore from Govt. of India.

The Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Government of India has launched a Nation-wide Campaign for Promotion of Digital Life Certificate for Central Government pensioners.

• In November 2021, Dr. Jitendra Singh, the Union Minister of State (PP) had launched the milestone Face Authentication Technique of submitting Life Certificate through any Android Mobile Phone.
• Now the Department is launching a special nation- wide campaign for promoting the Life certificate through Digital mode and popularizes the Face Authentication technique.
• All the registered Pensioners Associations, Pension Disbursing Banks, Ministries of Government of India and CGHS Wellness Centres have been directed to promote the Digital Life Certificate/Face Authentication Technique for submitting Life Certificate by organising special camps for ‘Ease of Living’ of pensioners.

The US Department of Treasury removed India along with Italy, Mexico, Thailand and Vietnam from its Currency Monitoring List of major trading partners that merit close attention to their currency practices and macroeconomic policies.

India had been on the list for the last two years.

The move came on a day when Secretary of the Treasury Janet Yellen visited New Delhi and held talks with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced Odisha will be made slum-free by December, 2023.

• The chief minister made the announcement while launching a survey using drones to facilitate the process of providing land rights to slum dwellers in five municipal corporations of the state.
• He also declared Hinjili, his own constituency and Digapahandi town in Ganjam district as ‘slum free’ and dedicated 707 ‘Biju Adarsh Colonies’ in 33 urban areas of the state.

State-run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) received the government’s approval for a Rs 26,821 crore order to Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) for 4G equipment. The matter will now be placed before the Group of Ministers (GoM) for final approval.

• Following the deal, the IT services provider will set up BSNL’s 4G sites and maintain its network for nine years.
• As per reports, the telecom operator is soon to give a purchase order to TCS for its 100,000 sites. While private telecom operators are updating their network to 5G, BSNL is still using 2G and 3G networks.
• BSNL is expected to start its 4G services by early next year and it will deploy 5G network simultaneously. A unit of Tata Sons, Tejas Networks, will manufacture the network radio equipment for BSNL.
• The telco recently received a whopping Rs 1.64 lakh crore bailout package from the government.

National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has announced the launch of the BHIM App open-source license model.

• Under the new model, the source code of the BHIM app will be licensed to regulated entities participating in the UPI ecosystem.
• Further, new features that get launched on BHIM App in the future, will also be extended to these entities for them to continue. 
• BHIM licensing model will empower these entities to offer the benefits of UPI to their customers with a ready UPI application that will help reduce time, effort, and costs for the entities.

The 4th edition of Fit India School Week will kick off on 15 November 2022 wherein for a month various schools across India will celebrate fitness and sports in various forms for 4 to 6 days and reaffirm its importance amongst the school fraternity.

• Double Olympic medallist PV Sindhu said this during the launch of mascots Toofan and Toofani for Fit India Movement’s Fit India School Week initiative for the year 2022 .
• Fit India Movement, which was launched by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in the year 2019, kicked off its annual ‘Fit India School Week’ programme in December of that same year, and is dedicated to encouraging schools in inculcating fitness habits and increasing awareness about fitness and sports among students.
• While all three previous editions of the programme have been a huge success among the students, to make the initiative more popular among the younger generation, this edition has added two mascots called “Toofan and Toofani” to its flagship, with the duo representing India’s fittest superhero & superwoman.

World Pneumonia Day is a global event observed every year on 12 November to spread awareness and educate people to combat Pneumonia disease, which is a world’s biggest infectious killer of adults and children, responsible for the majority of death of children below five around the world.

• Pneumonia is an inflammatory respiratory disorder caused due to bacteria, viruses or fungal infections which impair the air sacs of the lungs, called "Alveoli". It results in the accumulation of fluid or pus in the air sacs, making breathing difficult. It is a contagious disease and could be fatal for the person with weaker immunity, especially in the children's and elderly people.
• World Pneumonia Day was first observed on 12 November 2009, under the "Stop Pneumonia" initiatives by Global Coalition Against Child Pneumonia, a coalition of various institutions all together to fight the child mortality due to the respiratory infection.

Public Service Broadcasting Day is being observed on Saturday(12 Nov, 2022). The day is celebrated every year to commemorate the only visit of Mahatma Gandhi to the studio of All India Radio, Delhi in 1947.

The Father of the Nation addressed the displaced people, who had temporarily settled at Kurukshetra in Haryana after partition.

A special programme is being organized in the premises of All India Radio, New Delhi on Saturday afternoon to mark the occasion.
