On his 50th birthday Sachin Tendulkar was honoured at the Sydney Cricket Ground with a set of gates named after him and West Indies great Brian Lara.

• The gates, used to access the field of play, were unveiled to mark Tendulkar's 50th birthday and 30 years since Lara's innings of 277 at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
• The gates were unveiled by SCG and Venues NSW Chairman Rod McGeoch AO and CEO Kerrie Mather, as well as Cricket Australia CEO Nick Hockley.

World number two Carlos Alcaraz beat Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-3 6-4 to win the Barcelona Open on April 23 and clinch his third ATP Tour title of the year and the ninth overall for the 19-year-old.

• Alcaraz, who had an injury-plagued start to the season and was beaten by Jannik Sinner in the semi-finals of his last tournament, the Miami Open, won in Barcelona for the second consecutive year, taking the title without losing a set. 
• The Spanish teenager beat world number five and second seed Tsitsipas with the same ease that he dispatched every other opponent in Barcelona this week. 
• Alcaraz, who in December became the youngest year-end world number one since the ATP rankings began, was close to perfection on Sunday and gave a masterclass as he won in less than 80 minutes.

India and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) batter KL Rahul reached the 7,000 run mark in T20 cricket. The batter accomplished this milestone in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match against Gujarat Titans in Lucknow.

• In the match, KL scored 68 off 61 balls. His knock consisted of eight boundaries. His runs came at a strike rate of 111.48. 
• In 210 matches and 197 innings, KL has scored 7,054 runs at an average of 42.49.
• He has scored six centuries and 61 fifties in the format, with the best score of 132*. His strike rate in T20 is 136.20.

External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar has addressed the India-Guyana Business Round Table, highlighting the increasing engagement between India and Latin America.

• Dr. Jaishankar emphasised the enormous potential for growth and new possibilities in the partnership between India and Guyana, citing the growth rate of both countries.
• He also highlighted the new focus areas agreed upon by Guyanese President Ali and Prime Minister Narendra Modi which include energy, health and pharma, development partnership and capacity building, agriculture, innovation, technology, defence, and infrastructure.
   

India has gained six spots to reach the 38th rank on the World Bank's Logistics Performance Index (LPI), owing to significant investments in logistics infrastructure and technology.

• India scored 3.4 out of a maximum possible score of 5 on the 2023 index, which takes into account six factors: customs, infrastructure, shipments, competence and quality, timeliness, and tracking and tracing.
• The report noted that since 2015, India had invested in “soft and hard infrastructure" to connect ports to “economic poles in the hinterland".

Madhya Pradesh’s Kuno National Park (KNP) witnessed a second cheetah death in less than a month. Cheetah Uday, who was one of the 12 cheetahs brought from South Africa to Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh in February, died on Sunday. The cause of the male feline’s death remains unclear yet, and the exact cause of the death will be known after the post-mortem report.  

• The cheetah’s death is a major setback to India’s cheetah reintroduction project.
• The ‘Project Cheetah’ was launched in September 2022 to reintroduce the big cats to India, decades after it became extinct.
• In the first batch, eight Namibian cheetahs were brought to the KNP. Five months later, 12 cheetahs from South Africa arrived in Madhya Pradesh, in February 2023. Uday, who died on Sunday, was one of these 12 cheetahs. 

India will get its first water metro on Tuesday (25 April). The water metro will be launched in Kerala's Kochi district. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will be on a visit to Kerala on April 25, will flag off India's first water metro.

• PM Modi shared some photos of the Kochi water metro on his Twitter handle and called it a “significant enhancement” to the city’s infrastructure.
• Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that the Kochi Water Metro will bring a major revolution in the water transport sector in the state and will boost the state's tourism. 

The Panchayati Raj Day, recognized annually by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj on 24th April, commemorates the 73rd Amendment Act, 1992 of the Constitution coming into effect in the year 1993.

• A strengthened local self-government would strengthen the commitment of the rural India towards self- reliance promoting social, economic and cultural change transforming the lives of our rural population.
• This year, 2022, the National Panchayati Raj Day is being celebrated along with the year-long celebration of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. In the occasion of the same, the iconic week of the Ministry of Panchayati Raj has been earmarked from 11th April, 2022 to 17th April, 2022.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Monday inaugurated ‘Mehangai Rahat Camp’ at the Mahapura village of Sanganer in Jaipur district aiming to provide the people of the State relief from inflation.

• The State government aims to connect common people in the State with information on public welfare schemes of the state government, according to the Chief Minister.
• The camp, is among various such camps that will be held in parts of the State till June 30, months ahead of the Rajasthan Assembly polls in which chief minister Gehlot is seeking a second term in the office.
• These camps are being organised at the gram panchayat and ward levels.
• Earlier, the Chief Minister had said that the relief camps will benefit the people under various government schemes to help them amid the price rise.

Canara Bank, in collaboration with Reserve Bank Innovation Hub (RBIH), has announced the launch of Digitalised Submission of Form 15G/15H as one of customer friendly services adding to our pursuit of Customer Delight.

• Form 15G (Individual and HUF) and Form 15H (Individual-Senior Citizen) are self-declaration forms that an individual submits to the bank requesting not to deduct TDS on interest income as their income is below the basic exemption limit.
• For this, providing PAN is compulsory.The Reserve Bank Innovation Hub (RBIH) recognized the problem, engaged with various banks to explore possible solutions, and developed a blueprint to resolve the issue.
• The Reserve Bank of India Innovation Hub (RBIH) is an initiative of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) that was launched to promote innovation in the financial sector.
