President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated Uttar Pradesh’s first AYUSH University, Mahayogi Guru Gorakhnath AYUSH University, in Gorakhpur on July 1, 2025.

The university aims to become a national hub for traditional medicine, promoting integrated education in Ayurveda, Unani, Homoeopathy, Yoga, and Naturopathy.

Key Highlights:

• The university, built on a 52-acre campus in Pipri-Bhathat, was inaugurated in the presence of CM Yogi Adityanath and UP Governor Anandiben Patel.
• The Rs.267.5 crore facility includes an academic block, a 1,500-seat auditorium, a Panchakarma wellness center, and residential infrastructure.
• The university has affiliated 98 AYUSH colleges across Uttar Pradesh, offering undergraduate and postgraduate programs in traditional medicine systems.
• OPD services began in 2023, with over 1.25 lakh patients treated so far across Ayurvedic, Unani, and Homoeopathy departments.
• The institution is envisioned to support health tourism, promote indigenous medical education, and generate rural employment through medicinal plant-based initiatives.
