Rajasthan Administrative Service or better known as the RAS is the most coveted and the top civil services exam in the state of Rajasthan. It guarantees a lucrative job in the government sector of the state. The RAS entrance exam to avail a spot in the Rajasthan Administrative Service in Rajasthan Public Service Commission. Rajasthan Public Service Commission is an entry-level examination that secures a job in the Rajasthan Administrative Services. The posts start from a clerical level job and go up to the Rajasthan Administrative Service (R.A.S) or Rajasthan police Service (R.P.S). The RPSC office is located in Ajmer, Rajasthan. Today, civil services have come to be recognized as one of the most prestigious and well rewarding careers. Those who wish you secure a job with the government or take a feel of the bureaucratic system should opt for this exam. One plus point of this exam is that there is no fixed field of study that one needs to undertake in order to appear for this examination. Anyone having the knack of pursuing government services in the state of Rajasthan can opt for RPSC. Wide-ranging jobs such as Sub Inspector, senior teacher, statistical officer, the government geologist, etc. are covered under the ambit of RPSC.

 

RPSC RAS Eligibility

The basic eligibility criteria for RPSC RAS 2019 exam includes:

  • Candidates should obtain a bachelor’s degree from a recognised university
  • Candidates should be minimum 21 years and maximum 40 years in age as on January 1, 2020. For non-gazetted employees, the minimum age limit is 25 years and maximum age limit is 45 years as on January 1, 2020

 

RPSC RAS Selection Process

The RPSC RAS  exam selection process includes the following three stages:

  • Preliminary exam: This is an objective-type screening test of 200 marks. Candidates need to complete the paper in three hours duration.
  • Main exam: This is a descriptive-/ analytical-type written test. The test contains four papers of 200 marks each. Time allowed to complete each paper is three hours.
  • Personality/ viva-voce exam: Candidates qualifying the Main exam need to appear for a personality test/ interview. The weightage for the personality test is 100 marks.  

 

RPSC RAS Preliminary Exam Pattern 2019

The RPSC RAS Pre exam is a screening test that contains objective-type multiple choice questions (MCQs) of 200 marks. Screening test basically means that marks obtained by candidates in the preliminary exam are not counted at the time of preparation of the final RPSC RAS merit list.

The standard of questions asked in RAS Pre exam is of graduation level. Subjects from which questions are asked in the paper are General Knowledge and General Science.

RPSC RAS Main Exam Pattern 2019

The Main exam of RPSC RAS consists of a total of four papers of 200 marks each. It is mandatory for candidates to appear for all the four papers. Each paper contains descriptive/ analytical (brief, medium, long answer and descriptive-type questions) questions. Candidates need to complete each paper in a time duration of three hours.

RPSC RAS Interview Pattern 2019

Candidates shortlisted on the basis of RPSC RAS Main exam finally need to appear for the interview round. The RPSC RAS interview round is also known as personality test or viva-voce and it carries a weightage of 100 marks.

In the RAS interview round, candidates are evaluated on the basis of the following parameters:

Note: For selection to Rajasthan Police Service (RPS), preference at the time of interview is given to candidates having ‘C’ certificate of NCC.       

 

RPSC RAS Exam Pattern 2019: Important Points to Note

Some of the points that candidates should keep in mind regarding RAS exam patter are:

  • All the papers (Pre and Main) can be answered in English or Hindi language. However, candidates are not allowed to answer a paper partly in Hindi and English, unless specified to do so
  • If a candidate’s handwriting is not clear to the examiner, a deduction is made from the total marks obtained by the candidate
  • According to the official notification of the exam, “Credit will be given for orderly, effective and exact expression combined with due economy of words in all subjects of examination.”
