Floor Test:

It is a test through which the Chief Minister of a state can be asked to prove whether they still enjoy the majority of the house/ con fi dence of the legislature.
The Governor asks the Chief Minister to prove the majority, through a simple majority of more than 50% votes of those present and voting.
On failing to prove the majority, the chief minister is bound to resign.
This process may also occur in the Lok Sabha at the Central level.
The process of voting may be held orally, by ballot or by the means of electronic gadgets.
