The average of six numbers is x and the average of three of these is y. If the average of the remaining three is z, then ?

x = y + z

If the average of 6 numbers is 'x', then the sum of these numbers is 6x.

Of these, the sum of the first three numbers = 3y

and the sum of the last three = 3z

Hence 6x = 3y + 3z
