On May 5, 2025, Shri Prakash Magdum, a seasoned officer of the Indian Information Service (1999 batch), assumed charge as the Managing Director of the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC). His appointment is anticipated to bolster NFDC's mission of nurturing and promoting Indian cinema both nationally and internationally.

Key Highlights:

• Magdum previously served as the Additional Director General at the Press Information Bureau (PIB) and the Central Bureau of Communication (CBC) in Ahmedabad. 
• He held the position of Director at the National Film Archive of India (NFAI) in Pune, where he played a pivotal role in advancing the National Film Heritage Mission through preservation, conservation, digitization, and restoration of India's cinematic heritage. 
• Magdum also served as the Registrar of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) and as a spokesperson for the Ministry of Defence in Thiruvananthapuram. 

His extensive experience in film preservation and public communication is expected to contribute significantly to NFDC's initiatives in supporting independent filmmakers, promoting Indian cinema globally, and enhancing the country's film industry infrastructure.
