Which of the following is NOT a core focus area of the district level Good Governance Index introduced in the Union Territory?
Timely disposal of files
Increased transparency and accountability
Enhancement of recreational activities
Citizen participation
The government has announced that the Union Territory will soon have a district-level Good Governance Index. This makes Jammu and Kashmir the first Union Territory in the country to have such a district-level governance assessment framework.
This index will be set up by the Centre government. The Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances in this regard will be collaborating with the Jammu and Kashmir administration to carry out this task. It is noteworthy here that the framework of the proposed index has been finalized with technical support from the Centre for Good Governance, Hyderabad.
The primary goal of the Good Governance Index is to enable each district in Jammu and Kashmir to achieve governance standards comparable to the best-administered districts across the country. The index will have the following core focus areas:
Timely Disposal of files: Ensuring that administrative processes are completed efficiently and without unnecessary delays.
Increased transparency and accountability: Promoting open governance practices that allow citizens to hold officials accountable.
Citizen participation: Encouraging active involvement of the community in governance processes.
