- Gain of 19%: S.P. = x + 19%x = 1.19x = 9639 ? x = 9639/1.19 = 8100

- Cost price of second article = y.

- Loss of 19%: S.P = y - 19%y = 0.81y = 9639 ? y = 9639/0.81 = 11901

- Total C.P = 8100 + 11901 = 20001

- Total S.P = 9639 + 9639 = 19278

- Net Loss = 20001 - 19278 = 723

- % Loss = (723/20001) × 100 ˜ 3.61% loss
