Direction: Read the following information carefully and answer the question given below.
Ten people Aman, Sonam, Salvi, Sajida, Mahesh, Janvi, Manvi, Krishna, Sahil and Vishal are living on five different floors of a building. Ground floor is as 1st floor and top floor is as 5th floor. There are two flats on each floor. Flat-1 and Flat-2 from west to east such that Flat-2 is in east of Flat-1. Flat-1 of second floor is exactly above Flat-1 of first floor and other flats are placed in the same way.
Sahil lives just below the floor in which Vishal lives. More than two floors gap are between Sonam and Manvi. Both Krishna and Manvi live in the same floor. Mahesh lives on 2nd floor. There are two floors gap is between Mahesh and Vishal and both does not live in the same flat number. Aman lives just above the floor in which Sajida lives and in North-east with respect to Manvi. Janvi lives in west with respect to Sahil. Both Salvi and Sajida does not live in the same flat number.
How many floors are between Vishal and Krishna?
Two
Three
One
Zero
None
Let’s break down the key info and what each clue really means, one at a time:
- There are 5 floors, each with 2 flats: Flat-1 (west) and Flat-2 (east). So: 1st Floor (Flat-1, Flat-2), 2nd Floor (Flat-1, Flat-2), and so on.
- Sahil lives just below Vishal. That means they’re either stacked up on the same flat number, one above the other, on consecutive floors.
- Krishna and Manvi live on the same floor.
- Aman is just above Sajida (same flat). Also, Aman is north-east (higher floor, more eastern flat) to Manvi.
- Mahesh is on the 2nd floor.
- There are two floors between Mahesh and Vishal and they’re not on the same flat number.
- Janvi is in the west of Sahil (so Janvi is Flat-1, Sahil is Flat-2) on the same floor.
- More than 2 floors between Sonam and Manvi.
- Salvi and Sajida aren’t in the same flat number.
Let’s get to “How many floors are between Vishal and Krishna?”
The hard clue is: There are two floors between Mahesh (2nd floor) and Vishal, and they are not in the same flat. Vishal could be on 5th or ground, but Mahesh is on the 2nd—meaning Vishal must be on the 4th or 5th floor. If Mahesh is on 2, floors between are:
- Mahesh on 2 ? gap floors: 3 and 4 ? Vishal must be on 5 (top floor)
Sahil is just below Vishal, so Sahil must be on 4th floor, same flat number.
Krishna and Manvi are on the same floor (could be anywhere right now). Aman is above Sajida and north-east (so a floor above and east flat).
If we try out the other clues, especially the "more than two floors gap" between Sonam and Manvi, the only way is to place Manvi at the bottom and Sonam at the top (or vice versa).
Now, to get the number of floors between Vishal (5th) and Krishna—Krishna can’t be on 4 or 5. His only options are 1, 2, or 3. Given all clues, Krishna and Manvi would end up together (say, floor 1 or 2). So there are 3 floors between them if Vishal is on the 5th floor and Krishna on the 2nd floor, or vice versa.
Now, look at the options:
1. Two
2. Three
3. One
4. Zero
5. None
The answer is Option 2, Three floors between them.
