Ram spends 30% of his monthly income on food and 50% of the remaining on household expenses and saves the remaining Rs. 10,500. Find the monthly income of Shyam if monthly income of Ram is 25% less than that of Shyam.
Rs. 32,000
Rs. 35,000
Rs. 40,000
Rs. 38,000
Rs. 28,000
Correct option:3
Solution:
Let Ram's monthly income = Rs. x.
He spends 30% on food, so remaining = 70% of x = 0.7x.
He spends 50% of remaining on household = 0.5 × 0.7x = 0.35x.
Left after both = 0.7x – 0.35x = 0.35x.
This leftover, 0.35x, equals his savings: 0.35x = 10,500
x = 10,500 / 0.35 = 30,000.
Ram’s income is 25% less than Shyam’s
75% of shyam's income=30000
Shyam's income=30000/75 x 100=40000
Hence option 3 is the correct answer.
