On 29th November 2021, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) approved a loan of USD 125 million for the Uttarakhand Integrated and Resilient Urban Development Project. This initiative aims to enhance access to quality water supply and sanitation services in the state, particularly benefiting urban poor and vulnerable groups. The project encompasses the construction of 136 kilometers of water pipelines to replace defective networks in South Dehradun, establishment of sewage treatment plants, and the development of 256 km of underground sewer networks and 117 km of stormwater drainage systems. Additionally, about 17,410 households in Dehradun will be connected to the new sewerage system, and water meters will be installed in approximately 5,400 households to promote efficient water use and consumption billing.
