Direction: Study the following information carefully and answer the questions given below:
Eight persons A, B, C, D, E, F, G, and H are sitting around a square table in such a way that four of them sit at four corners facing toward the center, and the other four sit at the middle of the sides facing outside. G does not sit at the corner. D sits second to the left of A who sits third left of G. C sits third to the left of B who is not a neighbour of G. Only two persons sit between F and H who sits opposite to E.
How many persons sit between F and A when counted from the right of F?
Two
One
Three
Five
Four
Let’s break this down step by step:
- There are eight people around a square: 4 at the corners (facing inward), 4 in the middle of the sides (facing outward).
- G does not sit at a corner. So, G must be at one of the sides, facing outward.
- D sits 2nd to the left of A (direction depends on where they sit), and A is 3rd to the left of G.
- C is 3rd to the left of B, but B is not next to G.
- Only two people between F and H, and H sits opposite E.
Now, if you work this out (sketching the table helps, going person by person):
1. Place G on a side.
2. Since A is 3rd to the left of G, and corners/sides alternate, A must be on a corner.
3. Position D based on A.
4. Arrange C and B, making sure B isn’t next to G.
5. Place F and H with two in between, H sits opposite E.
After putting everyone around, you’ll find that from the right of F, there are two people between F and A.
So, the answer is:
- Option:2, One – ?
- Option:1, Two – Correct. Two people between F and A counted from the right of F.
- Option:3, Three – ?
- Option:4, Five – ?
- Option:5, Four – ?
In summary:
- G is always on a side, not a corner.
- Use each positional clue—sketching or arranging in your mind makes it clear.
- When you count from F’s right, A is the second seat after two people.
- There are two people between F and A when counted from the right of F.
