India to celebrate National Space Day on August 23

Marking the successful landing of Chandrayaan 3 on the moon’s south pole, the Union cabinet on Tuesday announced August 23 will be celebrated as ‘National Space Day’.

The cabinet endures this historical achievement by the scientists of our nation. Welcoming this move, the cabinet has approved 23 August to be celebrated National Space Day.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the point at which Chandrayaan-3 lander Vikram soft-landed will be named ‘Shiv Shakti’, while the point Chandrayaan-2 lander impacted will be called ‘Tiranga’.
He made the announcement at the Isro Telemetry Tracking and Command Network (Istrac) here, arriving straight from Greece.
