India celebrates 10 years of PMKVY, having trained over 1.63 crore youth under this flagship skill development program.

About PMKVY:

• What is PMKVY?
  A flagship skill development initiative by the Government of India, designed to train youth in industry-relevant skills to improve employability.
• Launched By: Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE)
• Started: 2015, under the Skill India Mission (SIM)

Core Objective:
Bridge the skill gap by providing short-term training, certification of existing skills, and placement support.

Key Features:

• Short-Term Training (STT): 3 to 6 months training in over 30 sectors
• Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL): Certification for informal workers like artisans and craftsmen
• Digital Integration: PMKVY 4.0 includes AI analytics, Academic Bank of Credits, and a unified Skill India Digital Hub
• Inclusivity: Nearly 45% women beneficiaries; strong representation from SC, ST, and OBC groups
• Skill Expansion: Training in emerging sectors like AI, IoT, mechatronics, drones alongside traditional crafts
• Additional Initiatives: Skill Hub in schools and COVID warriors training (1.2 lakh youth trained)

Achievements (Over 10 Years):

• 1.63 crore youth trained (as of July 2025)
• 6+ crore trained across all MSDE schemes since 2014
• 25+ lakh trained under PMKVY 4.0 (FY 2022–25)
• 1.10 crore trained under PMKVY 2.0, supporting Make in India & Digital India
• 17 lakh trained under DDU-GKY and 56 lakh under RSETIs (entrepreneurship focus)
