Statement 2 should also be correct because the term is either 6 years or age upto 65 years. One part is mentioned in the statement 2, so it must be correct.
The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) can be removed from office on the same grounds and in the same manner as a judge of the Supreme Court of India, not the High Court. This is enshrined in Article 324(5) of the Indian Constitution. The process for removing the CEC involves a motion of impeachment passed by both houses of Parliament (Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha) with a special majority. The grounds for removal are proven misbehavior or incapacity.
