2. Kushans introduced the hereditary dual rule system of polity in India.
3. The Kushan Kings issued numerous gold coins with a lesser degree of metallic purity than what is found in the Gupta gold coins.

1 and 3 only
2 and 3 only
1, 2 and 3
? The Kushans were one of five branches of the Yuechis or Tocharians who were nomadic people from the steppes of north-Central Asia. Their empire extended from the Oxus to the Ganga, from Khorasan in Central Asia to Pataliputra and Bihar (embracing nine modern countries). Thus, the Kushan Empire in India is sometimes called a Central Asian empire. This created a vibrant interaction between people and cultures. Kushans controlled the Silk Route which was a major source of revenue for their empire, they built a large prosperous empire on tools levied from traders. ? There were two successive dynasties of Kushan, the first Kadphises who was followed by Kanishka. Kushan rule in the Indian subcontinent saw distinct advances in the development of architecture. Burnt bricks were used extensively to make buildings. Burnt bricks were used for flooring the period and construction of brick walls. Kanishka, a Buddhist, undertook the construction of monasteries and stupas on a wide scale. Hence, statement 1 is correct. ? Kushans introduced changes in the administration to suit their needs such as they strengthened the idea of the divine origin of kingship (Kushans called themselves “Sons of Gods”). They strengthened the satrap system of government which was introduced by the Shakas. They also introduced the hereditary dule rule, wherein two kings ruled the same kingdom simultaneously (Father and son ruling jointly at the same time). Thus, one can infer that there was less centralization under the Kushan rule. Hence, statement 2 is correct. ? Kushans were the first rulers in India to issue golds coins on a wide scale. The early Kushan Kings issued numerous gold coins with a higher degree of metallic purity than found in the Gupta gold coins. They also introduced copper coins in India which were imitations of Roman coins. Hence, statement 3 is not correct.
