IRDAI has constituted a committee that will advise the insurance regulator on matters related to mental health and insurance. The committee is headed by Pratima Murthy, Director, NIMHANS, Bangalore.

The 5-member committee will:

• Advice IRDAI on coverages offered or to be offered 
• Give inputs on terminology and concepts related to mental illnesses
• Study various aspects of mental illnesses 
• Find out other relevant aspects related to the mental illness and health policies

About IRDAI

Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI), is a statutory body formed under an Act of Parliament, i.e., Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority Act, 1999 (IRDA Act, 1999) for overall supervision and development of the Insurance sector in India.
