India is set to revolutionize the mobility sector with the launch of Bharat Taxi in December 2025. The initiative, driven by major cooperatives and supported by the National e-Governance Division (NeGD), aims to provide a citizen-first, technology-enabled, and cooperative-based alternative to existing ride-hailing platforms.

Key Points:

• Bharat Taxi is promoted by leading cooperative and financial institutions including NCDC, IFFCO, AMUL, KRIBHCO, NAFED, NABARD, NDDB, and NCEL, reflecting the cooperative movement’s values in the digital era.
• The initiative is supported by NeGD, Digital India Corporation, and the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), formalized through an MoU for strategic and technical advisory.
• The platform integrates with national digital services such as DigiLocker, UMANG, and API Setu to ensure seamless identity verification and service delivery.
• Bharat Taxi will adhere to Government of India data protection and cybersecurity standards, with NeGD advising on building robust technical infrastructure to safeguard user privacy.
• The nationwide launch is planned for December 2025, establishing India’s first cooperative-driven, citizen-first national ride-hailing service.
