2. Subhash Chandra Bose formed a Forward bloc within the INC.
3. A Left Consolidation Committee was formed under the chairmanship of Jayaprakash Narayan.

2 and 3 only
1 and 3 only
1, 2 and 3
? At the Congress meeting in Haripura, Gujarat, in February 1938, Bose was unanimously elected president of the session. In January 1939, Subhash Bose decided to stand again for the president’s post in Congress. Subhash Bose won against Pattabhi Sitaramayya, who had the full support of Mahatma Gandhi. ? In March 1939 the Congress session took place at Tripuri, in the Central Provinces. National leaders resigned from the working committee as Subhash Bose accused the working committee leaders of reaching a compromise with the government. A resolution was moved by Govind Ballabh Pant, reaffirming faith in Gandhian policies and asking Bose to nominate the working committee “in accordance with the wishes of Gandhiji”. Bose refused to nominate a new working committee without Gandhi's support. ? In the circumstances, Bose saw no option but to resign. He resigned from the president’s post in April 1939. This led to the election of Rajendra Prasad as president of Congress. Hence statement 1 is not correct. ? On 3 May, Bose announced the formation of his Forward Bloc, initially with the idea of working within the Congress and also of uniting the various Left groups—for which purpose the Forward Bloc started a Left Consolidation Committee in June 1939. This received Communist support but both the Royists and Socialist leaders like Jayaprakash Narayan gave first priority to Congress unity and were critical of the formation of the Forward Bloc. The Congress Working Committee took disciplinary action against Bose when he gave a call for an all India protest against an AICC resolution: in August 1939, he was removed from the post of president of the Bengal Provincial Congress Committee besides being debarred from holding any elective office in the Congress for a period of three years. Hence statement 2 is correct and statement 3 is not correct.
