What causes the High Pressure in the sub-tropical zone ?
High temp
Low temperature
Air divergence
Air subsidence
At about 30°North and South of Equator lies the area where the ascending equatorial air currents descend because of Subsidence, in the Earth's atmosphere, is most commonly caused by a low temperature. As the air cools, it becomes denser and moves towards the ground, as warm air becomes less dense and moves upwards. This area is thus an area of high pressure. It is also called as the Horse latitude. Winds always blow from high pressure to low pressure. So the winds from subtropical region blow towards Equator as Trade winds and another wind blows towards Sub-Polar Low-Pressure as Westerlies. Hence option 4th is correct.
