On the first day of Assembly’s sitting i.e 9 December 1946, Sachidanand Sinha was chosen as the temporary President of the Constituent Assembly because he was the senior most member of the Assembly. With him as presiding officer of the Constituent Assembly, election for the full-time President was held two days later and on 11 December 1946, Dr. Rajendra Prasad became the full-time President.
