Kerala has secured first rank in the Urban Governance Index (UGI), a two year-long study conducted across several cities in India by the Praja Foundation. 

• The study, which assessed multiple Indian cities, mapped progress, developments, and policy changes across 42 UGI indicators.
• With an overall UGI score of 59.31%, Kerala significantly improved its performance compared to 2020.
• IT had a score of 48.77% and ranked 4th in 2020.
• Kerala performed exceptionally well in two critical areas: Empowered City Elected Representatives and Legislative Structure (18.63/30.00), and Fiscal Empowerment (23.22/30.00).
