The Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA) started its journey in 1855 by coming together of two like minded women- Lady Mary Jane Kinnard and Christian Emma Robarts who laid the foundation of a strong and inspirational movement for women empowerment and skill development.
First YWCA started its operation in India. It was then known as the YWCA of India, Burma and Ceylon. YWCA of India, National Office was formed on Feb 2nd.The first successful YMCAs were launched in 1873 in Trivandrum and in 1875 in Calcutta, Bombay, and Lahore.
