Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently visited Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, where he inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for development projects totaling over Rs.8,300 crore. These initiatives aim to enhance the state's infrastructure and connectivity.
Key Projects:
The Prime Minster inaugurated India's first vertical-lift sea bridge, this 2.08-kilometer structure connects Rameswaram to the mainland.
Built at over Rs 700 crore, the 2.08-kilometre-long bridge features a lift span that rises to let ships pass below while still allowing trains to run. It’s also made to last in tough sea weather.
Rail and Road Projects:
Four-laning of the Walajapet–Ranipet section of NH-40: A 28-kilometer stretch aimed at improving vehicular movement.
Dedication of the Viluppuram–Puducherry section of NH-332: A 29-kilometer four-laned road enhancing regional connectivity.
Poondiyankuppam–Sattanathapuram section of NH-32: A 57-kilometer segment upgraded to four lanes.
Cholapuram–Thanjavur section of NH-36: A 48-kilometer stretch developed to facilitate smoother traffic flow.
These projects are expected to significantly boost connectivity, trade, and economic development in Tamil Nadu.
