Vice-President of India Jagdeep Dhankhar will be ex-officio chancellor of Pondicherry University after statute 1 (1) of the Pondicherry University Act was modified through a gazette notification and published on December 5.

• Dhankhar would be the chancellor of Pondicherry University with effect from December 5, said registrar (in charge) Rajneesh Bhutani in a release. 
• This appointment marks a crucial step in enhancing the administrative and academic functions of Pondicherry University.
• The Vice President, known for his eminent stature in the political arena, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to this honorary position.
• His role as the Chancellor is pivotal in fostering academic excellence, guiding the institution towards innovation, and upholding the  standards of education at Pondicherry University.
