(a-b)²=(a+b)²- 4ab
Where, a and b are first and second terms respective
Solution
Now, we know that (a - bY

Hence, here a =x and b = 2y and
4(xx2y) = 4(9)=36

Now, putting these values in (1) we have,

=(x-2y)²= (x+2y)² -8xy
=10²-36
= (100 - 36) = 64.
=(x-2y)=8.

Hence, the value of (x - 2y) is 8.
