Taiwan has launched a Global Elite Card to attract skilled foreign professionals to the country. 

• The new one will allow professionals to apply for permanent residence within one year of staying in Taiwan.
• The Taiwanese government has also announced its plans to launch a Digital Nomad Visa for remote workers.
• Foreign professionals with an annual salary of more than TWD 6 million (Rs.1,57,23,074) can apply for this new card.
• The card will also allow people to get work permits for their spouses and enable unrestricted stays for dependent relatives.

Why Taiwan taking such step ?

Taiwan is currently facing a labour shortage. As per the country’s National Development Council, Taiwan will witness a workforce deficit of 3,50,000 by 2028. To alleviate this problem, the Taiwanese government has announced a new Global Elite Card. With this new card, the country aims to welcome 2,00,000 international professionals and technical workers.
