Read the information below and answer the questions that follow. Five people A, B, C, D and E took part in a competition which comprises of completing a painting while they are in a running position. The table below shows the time taken by them to complete a painting when they are in static position and their maximum speed. When in running position the time taken by them to complete a painting increased by (60*n) minutes where n is the speed at which they are running at that moment. Note: Take n in m/s. When we say time is increased by (60*n) minutes, it means that time increased is directly proportional to n. A person has to start drawing the painting as soon as he starts running.
Running at a speed of 1.5 m/s, B finishes his race exactly when he finishes the painting while running. Find the distance that he ran.
20500 m
21600 m
25100 m
18100 m
Let Distance=D Time for completing the race in minutes= D/90 Time for completing the painting when running at 1.5 m/s = 150 + (1.5*60)= 240 so we have D/90=240 D= 21600 m
