World Environment Health Day is observed on September 26 every year to mark a day dedicated to creating awareness about the impact of environmental health on human lives.
The day is an occasion to recognise the impact of environmental factors on human beings and how a healthy environment is important for healthy living. Many environmental factors like water pollution, air pollution and soil contamination, among others could significantly impact the public health in a region or any country. These factors could be an outcome of human behaviour and exploitation of nature. So, it’s important to recognise the importance of a healthy environment.
History and Significance
World Environment Health Day was founded by the International Federation of Environmental Health (IFEH) in 2011 to focus on the importance of caring for the health of our environment.
The theme for this year's World Environmental Health Day is “Global Environmental Public Health: Standing up to protect everyone's Health each and every day”
