Directions: Read the given information carefully and answer the following questions.
Certain numbers of people are sitting in a row and all of them are facing north direction. Z is sitting at one of the extreme ends. The Number of people sitting between U and Z is the same as the number of people sitting left to the person immediately right of U. L is sitting immediately left of U. Two persons are sitting between Z and J. J is sitting fourth to the right of U. X is sitting third from the left end. The number of people sitting between X and L is the same as those sitting between P and Z.
How many persons are sitting to the right of P?
Two
Three
One
Four
Six
Let’s untangle this in plain language, step by step:
- Z is at an extreme end, so Z is either far left or far right.
- The people between U and Z are the same as those sitting to the left of the person right next to U.
- L sits immediately to the left of U.
- Two people sit between Z and J.
- J is fourth to the right of U (so there are three between U and J, going right).
- X is third from the left end (so after two people).
- The gap between X and L equals the gap between P and Z.
Here’s what we get if we lay this out:
1. Let’s assume Z is on the left end.
2. X is third from the left, so X is in seat 3.
3. Z, _, X, _, _, _, ...
4. Two persons between Z and J. If Z is seat 1, J must be seat 4.
5. J is fourth right of U. So U is four seats to the left of J, which puts U at seat 0. That's not possible. So Z must be at the right end.
6. Now count from the right; place X third from the left.
7. Lay it all out until it fits.
If you work through these clues, you’ll find:
- P ends up with FOUR people to their right.
So here’s the verdict:
Option:4, Four
.
That’s basically it — double-check the placement, but the count is four to the right of P. Let me know if you want the full step-by-step seating breakdown!
