Direction: Study the given data carefully and answer the following question.
There are 3 cars A, B and C. They can travel some distance with different speed.
Car A: It travels some distance which is 33 1/3 more than the distance travelled by Car B.
Car B: It travels at speed of 50 km/hr for 7 1/2 hours.
Car C: It goes a distance of 400 km at 20% less speed than Car B.
Find the time taken by Car C to travel the distance of 400km.
8 hours
10 hours
11 hours
9 hours
12 hours
Let’s break this down:
- Car B drives at 50 km/hr for 7.5 hours.
- Distance = 50 × 7.5 = 375 km.
- Car C travels 400 km at 20% less speed than Car B.
- 20% less than 50 km/hr ? 50 × 0.8 = 40 km/hr.
- Time for Car C = 400 ÷ 40 = 10 hours.
- As for Car A: it goes 33 1/3% more distance than B. That’s 1/3 more, so 375 + (1/3 × 375) = 375 + 125 = 500 km. But that info isn’t needed for this answer.
So, the correct answer is:
Option 2, 10 hours
