Direction : Read the following information and answer the questions. A cricket match has to be organized in two areas – Rajnagar and Mirgarh. There are four batsmen- A, B, C and D where D is a Keeper batsman and there are five bowlers- P, Q, R, S and T where P is a special keeper and S is the only spinner among them. Selection of players has to be decided by following conditions.
Prize Money of Players
A 10 lakhs P 9 lakhs
B 9 lakhs Q 7 lakhs
C 8 lakhs R 8 lakhs
D 7 lakhs S 10 Lakhs
T 6 lakhs
1) There should always be a keeper behind the wickets.
2) The budget of Rajnagar is not more than 55 lakhs and the budget of Mirgarh is not more than 60 lakhs.
3) The pitch of Rajnagar supports fast bowlers so all fast bowlers must play in this match and wicket falls too quickly so more than two batsmen are required.
4) The spinner must play in the team of Mirgarh and more than two batsmen and at least two bowlers are playing in this team.
5) Those players who do not play in the first match must play in the second match.
6) The match rules are unconventional and number of players may vary in each match.
Who among the following must play in the match of Rajnagar?
D and P
B and S
D and T
None of these
Let’s break this down, step by step:
- You’ve got two teams: Rajnagar and Mirgarh, different budgets.
- Rajnagar: Must have ALL fast bowlers (which are P, Q, R, T—since S is the only spinner). Needs more than two batsmen. Always needs a keeper (only D or P can keep).
- Mirgarh: Must have the only spinner, S. Also needs more than two batsmen, at least two bowlers, and the rest of the guys not in Rajnagar.
- The number of players can be different per match; not your usual playing eleven rules.
Now, your options and what's actually required:
- For Rajnagar, because all fast bowlers must play, the squad must include P, Q, R, T.
- More than two batsmen: so at least three from A, B, C, D.
- Has to be a keeper—only D (batsman keeper) or P (bowl keeper).
- S (spinner) must play in Mirgarh, not Rajnagar.
Let’s look at each option:
1. D and P – Both are eligible keepers, and both make sense because Rajnagar needs at least one keeper, and P is a fast bowler.
2. B and S – S (spinner) cannot play in Rajnagar, has to be in Mirgarh.
3. D and P – Same as Option 1.
4. D and T – D is a keeper, T is a fast bowler, but it doesn’t specifically cover the keeper requirement plus all fast bowlers—D is not a fast bowler, so you’d still need to have P or another bowler for the full requirement.
So, here's the thing: D and P *must* be in Rajnagar; D because he’s a (batsman) keeper, and P because he’s a fast bowler and can also keep—basically, both fulfill key required roles. No other option fits all constraints.
The correct answer is:
Option 1 (or 3): D and P
