Direction: Study the following information carefully and answer the question given below. Eight people Amit, Ajay, Pawan, Suraj, Swati, Aditi, Anjali and Ayushi are travelling to different cities – Chile, India, England, Japan, France, Spain, Kenya and Germany but not necessarily in the same order. They also have bank accounts in different banks namely HSBC, ICICI, South Indian, Canara, SBI, HDFC, BOB, and Deutsche bank not necessarily in the same order.
The person who is travelling to Kenya has a bank has an account in SBI. Swati is travelling to Chile and has a bank account in HDFC bank. Pawan who is travelling to Germany has a bank account neither in BOB nor in Deutsche bank. Anjali bank account is in South Indian bank. Ayushi is travelling to France and has a bank account in ICICI bank. Amit who is travelling to Japan has a bank account neither in Canara nor in Deutsche bank. Neither Suraj nor Aditi is travelling to Kenya. Suraj who is travelling to Spain doesn’t have a bank account in Deutsche bank. Aditi is travelling to India. Amit has a bank account in HSBC bank. The person who has an account in Deutsche bank is travelling to which country?
Who has an account in Canara Bank?
Amit
Ajay
Aditi
Pawan
Ayushi
Let’s untangle this step-by-step and make sense of all the statements:
- Swati is locked in: She’s traveling to Chile and has an HDFC account.
- Ayushi: Headed to France, her bank is ICICI.
- Anjali: Her account is with South Indian Bank.
- Pawan: Traveling to Germany, but his account is not in BOB nor Deutsche Bank.
- Suraj: Is going to Spain, and his bank is not Deutsche Bank either.
- The Kenya traveler’s bank is SBI. But it isn’t Suraj or Aditi.
- Aditi is headed to India.
- Amit’s journey is to Japan, his bank is HSBC—and not Canara or Deutsche.
- The Deutsche bank account holder travels to some country, yet to be found.
So, who has the Deutsche account, which country are they visiting, and who’s with Canara Bank?
Piercing through the options:
- Pawan can’t have BOB or Deutsche, so not him.
- Suraj can’t have Deutsche.
- Swati’s already with HDFC.
- Ayushi has ICICI, Anjali has South Indian, Amit has HSBC.
- Kenya needs SBI. That leaves Ajay or Aditi for Canara and Deutsche.
Cross-matching names and process of elimination:
- Amit (Japan, HSBC)
- Swati (Chile, HDFC)
- Ayushi (France, ICICI)
- Anjali (unknown city, South Indian)
- Suraj (Spain, not Deutsche)
- Pawan (Germany, not BOB/Deutsche)
- Aditi (India, ???)
- The only one left is Ajay (unknown city)
So, if Kenya requires SBI, Ajay is the best candidate. That means Aditi gets either Canara or Deutsche.
But, let’s check banks left:
- Deutsche
- BOB
- Canara
But Pawan can’t have Deutsche or BOB, so by elimination, Pawan must have the Canara Bank account.
Here’s the answer in a nutshell:
- The person with an account in Deutsche Bank travels to England. (Because after matching all names/cities/banks, England is where this fit lands.)
- Canara Bank? That’s Pawan.
So your answer, option 4 – Pawan, is correct.
That's how it shakes out!
