Direction: Study the following information carefully and answer the given questions.
9 persons P to X belongs to three different states (Tripura, Manipur, and Assam) of different ages. Not more than 4 and not less than 2 persons belong to each state. If it is given for example B and the one who is 10yrs belong to the same state then that means B is not 10 years. P and V do not belong to the same state. S does not belong to Tripura and Assam. Q and the one who is 18yrs old belong to the same state and these are the only persons belonging to that state. U and the one who is 29 yrs old belong to the same state and U's age is an odd number. W and the one who is 54 yrs old belong to the same state. V, the one who is 61 yrs and the one who is 64 yrs belong to the same state. P is the eldest person in his/her respective state. The one who is 35 yrs belongs to Tripura. S age is twice of Q. V's age is 7 years less than W's age. R is neither the youngest person nor his age is 37. The minimum age is 18 yrs. V is elder than Q. P and S do not belong to the same state. V and T belong to the same state. U is 5 yrs elder than Q and one of the ages is 51 yrs.
Find the odd man out:
S
T
U
V
X
Let’s break it down step by step:
- Each state has 2–4 people; 9 people total, so breakdown might be 2–3–4.
- S doesn’t belong to Tripura or Assam, so only Manipur is left for S.
- Q and the 18-year-old are from the same state, and only those two are in that state. So, one state has just 2 people: Q and the 18-year-old (who isn't Q).
- U and the 29-year-old are from the same state (U ? 29), and U’s age is odd.
- W and the 54-year-old, same state (again, W ? 54).
- V, the 61-year-old, and the 64-year-old all together (that’s three people in one state; V is not 61 or 64).
- P is the eldest of his/her state.
- Tripura has the 35-year-old.
- S’s age is twice Q’s, so S is older than Q.
- V’s age is 7 less than W’s.
- R is not the youngest and not 37.
- Youngest is 18.
- V is older than Q.
- V and T are in the same state.
- U is 5 years older than Q and someone’s age is 51 (probably matters for sums).
Let’s look for the odd man out:
States breakdown:
- Q and 18-year-old in a pair (let’s say Manipur).
- V, 61, 64 (that’s three in another, let’s say Tripura).
- Rest in the third.
Using the “odd man out” logic:
- S is in Manipur (with Q or 18-year-old, but not both if both are the only ones there).
- T is teamed with V, putting T in Tripura.
- U is specified to be with 29-year-old (not clear yet, but not in Manipur).
- V is on the big team (Tripura).
- X is left.
If the “odd man out” means someone who doesn’t fit the triplet or pair structure, S is indeed in the 2-person Manipur, while others are in 3–4 person teams. S is also the only one who must be in Manipur by elimination. S’s age is exactly twice Q, so if Q = 18, S = 36, but that's not an option, but still, S stands apart.
Looking at the options:
S: Different state (Manipur, only 2 people), special age relationship.
T: Fits with Tripura’s trio.
U: In a pair (with 29), but this is just like S’s situation.
V: With the trio—no issue.
X: No info, but not standing out.
So, S is the true odd man out—by state and by a unique linkage to Q.
So,
Option 1: S is correct.
