The ratio of Iron and Zinc in 3 types of alloy of equal quantity is 2 : 3, 4 : 5 and 2 : 1 respectively. If all 3 alloys are mixed together, what is the ratio of Iron and Zinc the new mixture?
67 : 68
63 : 67
68 : 67
67 : 60
65 : 64
Let, the quantity of each alloy = k ::. Quantity of Iron in 1st alloy = 2k/5 .. Quantity of Zinc in 1st alloy = 3k/5 .. Quantity of Iron in 2nd alloy = 4k / 9 .. Quantity of Zinc in 2nd alloy = 5k/9 .. Quantity of Iron in 3rd alloy = 2k/3 .. Quantity of Zinc in 3rd alloy = k / 3 ..Total quantity of Iron after mixing = (2k/5+ 4k/ 9 + 2k/3) = (18k + 20k + 30k) / 45 = 68k / 45 :: Total quantity of Zinc after mixing = (3k/5+5k/9+k/3) = (27k+ 25k+ 15k) / 45 = 67k / 45 .. Ratio of Iron and Zinc the new mixture = 68k / 45: 67k / 45 = 68: 67
