- Siraj ud-Daulah (Option 3) became the Nawab of Bengal after Alivardi Khan's death in 1756. He was the grandson of Alivardi Khan and was appointed as his successor.
- Mir Jafar (Option 1) was a military general who later betrayed Siraj ud-Daulah and was made the Nawab by the British after the Battle of Plassey in 1757.
- Murshid Quli Khan (Option 2) was the first Nawab of Bengal, serving much earlier, from around 1717 until his death in 1727. He established the Nawabi rule in Bengal but was not directly in line after Alivardi Khan.
- Sujan Khan (Option 4) is not a historical figure associated with the Nawabs of Bengal.
