As per the Consumer Protection Act, 1986 a complaint can be filed in the District
Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum if the value of the claim is up to:
Rs5 lakh
Rs15 lakh
Rs20 lakh
Rs10 lakh
- The Consumer Protection Act, 1986 established the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum to handle consumer complaints.
- Each level of the consumer dispute redressal system has a limit on the value of claims it can address.
- Option 1: Rs 5 lakh - This was not the limit under the original act for district forums.
- Option 2: Rs 15 lakh - Also not a correct historical limit for district forums under the 1986 act.
- Option 3: Rs 20 lakh - This is the correct maximum limit for claims to be filed in the District Forum as per the Consumer Protection Act, 1986.
- Option 4: Rs 10 lakh - In earlier versions of the act, the district forum did handle claims up to this amount, but it was later increased.
